The Leland Blues Pipeline is just this website.
The
Pipeline was created by Glenn Miller, a musically-untalented native
of Leland. He is 'less untalented' (smile) in matters of technology (his job) and religion. He can
be reached at gmmx@tecinfo.com .
Do only musicians from Leland play on the Pipeline?
No. People from all over the Delta come into the Leland to share their talents
with the global blues community. Greenville provides a number of regulars,
as does Clarksdale, Indianola, and Greenville.
Why do you only feature original songs, and
not the really great Blues tunes?
To use previously recorded music involves securing (a euphemism for 'paying
for') a bundle of legal rights. I cannot afford this. (See this rights.html
page for discuss and PDF of the issues...sigh.)
Where are all the "Big names in
Blues" I haven't heard of many of your admittedly excellent Blues
weavers?
Actually, we sorta specialize in fresher, less-known, and sometimes 'struggling'
talent. We are trying to encourage "less recorded" artists, and
try to give them exposure to a wider audience via the web. Eventually they
may become 'big names', but we hope they will continue to support our efforts
to propagate the music of those just beginning the journey.
